Calendula is a soft orange flower which blooms with each new moon. It is soothing and moisturising and has a strong history of use on the skin. It is wound healing and can be used for cuts, bruises, stings, rashes, minor burns including sunburn, and minor infections. It is anti-inflammatory and mildly pain relieving. Calendula improves neovascularisation in tissue, or the growth of new tiny capillaries, which improves blood circulation and helps skin wounds to heal. With its soothing effect on the tissues it is perfect for bites and stings and to give relief from itching and pain as well as for tissue injuries such as sunburn. It is perfect for dry, irritated and chafed skin including baby nappy rash. It is suitable as a body cream when undergoing radiation or chemotherapy. It can also be used as a face cream to brighten the skin and for minor blemishes.
